MEETING IN PORTOCALIU
At that time I was running after a shadow. Since the tenth
flat in the neighborhood of Drumul Taberei

In addition to his work of creation, which includes more than twenty books, including The Good Morning, Snakes, Memory, The Imperfect traveler, Floating Islands, Probable Life, Fire of May, Welcome streets of Peru, Portocaliu Voices, The New Frontier, Delta, Ayun Harek Papers - Omar Lara is a translator of Romanian efforts exerted from his exile in Bucharest, between 1974 and 1981 (before exile that took him to Lima and then to Madrid). Editorials Romanian, English, Mexican, Chilean and Peruvian have published their translations and one of them, Ecuador and the Poles, Marin Sorescu, won the International Poetry Prize Rielo Mystic Fernando, Madrid 1983. Just Sorescu in Mexico was published in the Galaxy The Sentinel (2007), Eugen Jebeleanu Hiroshima Smile (2009) and Geo Bogza Orion (2010). Lara is also a translator of Mihai Eminescu, Al, Macedonsky, Ion Barbu, Gellu Naum, St. A. Doina Ion Caraion, Marin Preda, Maria Banus, Dinu Flamand, among other writers in Romania.
Some awards received by the poet are the Casa de las Americas Prize (Havana, 1975), Creating the John Guggenheim Fellowship (1983), Mihai Eminescu Medal, awarded by the Government of Romania (2001), Presidential Medal Centenario Pablo Neruda (2004). As director of the magazine Trilce, received the Award of the Society of Writers of Chile 2006, which granted former presidents of the organization. In 2007 he won the National Poetry Award Fernando Santivan, Nobel House Poetry Latin American (Madrid) and the International Poetry Prize City of Trieste (Italy). In 2009 he received the International Award Ovid, of the Romanian Writers' Union and in 2010 the Domus Aurea International Prize, awarded by the University of Rome.

In 1964 Lara founded in Valdivia Group and Poetry Trilce TRILCE magazine, a publication that runs until today.
